Unsere Geschichte.

Duroplast Chemie ist ein innovatives mittelständisches Unternehmen im Westerwald, das sich seit Beginn ganz auf die Entwicklung und Produktion hochwertiger Epoxidharze, Härter und Systemlösungen spezialisiert hat.

1970

Duroplast Chemie was founded by Alfred Runge (formerly Rütgerswerke-Bakelite) in Frankfurt am Main.

1972

Start of the first resin deliveries from our own production in Neustadt/Wied.

1985

Sale of the electrical laminates division to the American corporation DOW Chemical (the know-how was sold, not the company, as initially desired by DOW). At that time, DUROPLAST-CHEMIE GmbH was the most important local supplier of brominated epoxy resins, with over 7,500 tonnes of FR3 and FR4 resins, approx. 300 tonnes of antimony trioxide pastes and a turnover of over DM 45 million.

1998

In anticipation of the planned new European environmental legislation (Electronic Waste Directive), Duroplast Chemie was the first European resin manufacturer to introduce a phosphorus-modified, bromine-free epoxy resin on an industrial scale that could be processed just as easily as a conventional FR 4 resin.

2005

Registration of the word marks EPOSID, EPODUR, URESID.

2007

Norbert Naß becomes managing director of the company. The chemical engineer has already been with the company for several years and knows its structures and processes inside out. As Duroplast’s technical contact person, he had already had a major influence on the company’s reorientation. Norbert Naß will continue to play a decisive role in the company’s development until his retirement in 2022. Many of the products still in production today are the result of his work.

2012

Restructuring into today’s Duroplast Chemie. The absolute focus is on development, production, service/logistics; purely administrative activities are practically non-existent or outsourced. The entire strength of the small team is thus available to customers.

2016/2017

He shaped the image of DUROPLAST for decades, but in 2016/2017 the time had come. The chimney was removed and the old boiler house was renovated. The old boilers were replaced with modern rapid steam generators.

2020

Duroplast celebrates its 50th anniversary and can look back on a successful and exciting period. Following the sale of the group’s business 35 years ago, the company was able to re-establish itself in the market and once again has a broad product portfolio and a loyal and established customer and supplier base.

2025

Just in time for the company’s 55th anniversary, a modern and contemporary ERP system will be introduced in January 2025. The introduction represents a major step forward for the company in a world of advancing digitalisation. Administrative and logistics processes were already fully integrated at the live launch. The complete integration of production processes will take place in a second project phase.
